Norfolk Trotter - Paramoudra

"From Norfolk, England, Norfolk Trotter is a HNW project by sound/conceptual artist Michael Ridge (Quagga Curious Sounds, Zebra Mu). The sound source contributing to this release is from several flints rubbed together, delivering a 46 minute tectonic wall, largely static with some shift changes and some rhythmic elements." Released on Perpetual Abjection in 2018 and available to buy digitally and physically (three CDs remaining at the time of posting) here.

An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter & The Rita - Wide-Eyed in the Dark

Collaboration between An Innocent Young Throat-Cutter (Richard Ramirez and various collaborators) and The Rita (Sam McKinlay). Themes seem to lend themself more to the manias of the former project: giallo movies, prostitute murder through a film noir lens, although they suit McKinlay's thematic world also. Includes an archival track ('French Sex Murders') from a former collaboration between the two artists, McKinlay remixing an Innocent Young Throat-Cutter track. Released on the excellent Singapore-based 4iB Records as a CD in an edition of 250 copies.

Aggressive, fuzzy lo-fi harsh noise from American Dan Propert on the fantastic Swedish noise label Team Boro Tapes, released on cassette in 2017. Has the directness, slick artwork and finished feeling one comes to expect from this label.

Goat - Jerusalem

In keeping with his other release on the Harshnoise label ('Goat's Holy Mountain'), Andy O'Sullivan's mighty Goat project once again emulates stoner rock giants Sleep with its title. This one is harder to find than the former, but no less engaging and impressive. Hard hitting, crusty analogue harsh noise of the high level to be expected from this label. Released on CDr and digitally in 2007.

MSBR - Metal Stricken Terror Action: Dedicated to Richard Rupenus

This is a remastered and extended version of an earlier release by Koji Tano, repackaged as a CD and including source material from UK noise/industrial pioneers The New Blockaders (dedicated to Richard Rupenus of the same fame). An excellent collection of noise material from the late master produced shortly before his death in 2005. Released on the artist's own Denshi Zatsuon label.

Pain Jerk - God Speed You, Ochiai Music Gangs!

Kohei Gomi's latest provides us with a split of recent digitally recorded material and an archival (probably remastered) live recording from 1996. The new material is sonically diverse and intriguingly different from his live analogue electronics work, while the second track has all the fury and inferno we can expect from this project in its prime years - the vocal work is particularly good. Released digitally on Japanese web label Soup this year.
