Macronympha - Close to the Edge

An excellent hour-long noise assault from Macronympha, incorporating cut-ups from Chris Goudreau's Skin Crime. There is a large and skilled variety of sounds here, from straight-up harsh noise through to rhythmic sections and slow, droning sound. Joint CDr release on Self Abuse Records and Macronympha's own Mother Savage Noise Productions. Recorded in 2002 and released in 2003.

Two Assistant Deputy Ministers / Cracksteel - Official Channels

Split from Kazuhiro Matsuyama (Cracksteel) and Jason Kushnir (TADM). The themes here fall in line somewhat with Incapacitants' insane salaryman archetype, somewhat with later projects like Dominick Fernow's industrial techno moniker vatican shadow: dark echoes of international espionage. This is dense, highly dynamic noise. Despite Kushnir being (probably American) his sound is closer to what one might describe as staple Japanoise, whereas Matsuyama displays a sound that's slightly denser and low-end focused. Released in 2001 in an edition of 100 CDs on the Self Abuse Records sub-label Solipsism.

The Rita & Skin Crime - Maggie Evans

Collaboration from Sam McKinlay and veteran US three piece Skin Crime. Released on Patrick O'Neil's Self Abuse Records label (he performs in Skin Crime). It's nice to see a return to old slasher movies as a theme from Sam, as opposed to another questionable foot fetish focus. This is dense, rumbling harsh noise, verging on harsh noise wall without being monotonous.

Incapacitants & Two Assistant Deputy Ministers - Stocks & Bonds

Collaboration/split between Japanoise titans Incapcitants and one Jason Kushnir, recording as Two Assistant Deputy Ministers. The elusive Kushnir makes noise in the Japanese style and mainly with Japanese musicians (Incapacitants, Cracksteel, Mo・Te, Government Alpha), although he released on the classic American label Harshnoise in 2005, and apparently recorded with Macronympha as recently as 2017 (if anyone can find this or this, let me know). This is an excellent CD, playing on the insane salaryman motifs of Kosakai and Mikawa. Incapacitants open proceedings with a strong performance driven by their always impressive vocal performances (and even some drum improv); this is followed by a short collaborative effort under the ad-hoc moniker Two Assistant Deputy Mikawa, then Kushnir rounds the album off with another 30 or so minutes of frenzied noise.

Bacillus - Pandeplasmodium

Pandemic themed harsh noise from the USA. In lieu of a more topical release from this still active project (two releases last year), this will be more than sufficient to churn the guts of those willing to wade in to the mire of global paranoia directly, and take pleasure in it.
